One Day In A Life by Bill Wren

Bill Wren has just released his debut album, One Day in a Life. We are streaming several selections from the album on our radio station. The project was a perfect display of his fusion of genre. The success of the album began long before it was released as many of the songs charted at #1 or in the Top 10 on SoundClick.com and Broadjam.com. The success of One Day in a Life was due to a trio of talent behind the scenes. The first in this trio is Frank Ralls with his brilliant arrangements and production. Further arrangement was completed by the gifted musical prowess of Terry Winch and Ike Sturm. It's the professional work of these three pros that bring Wren's compositions to life with their flawless harmonic/rhythmic structure and polished production.
GLACIER LANDSCAPES heard now on our stream

Glacier Soundscapes, a new CD release by Jill Haley, is a collection of original music written for Glacier National Park. The instrumentation is piano, oboe, and English horn. The album includes some guitar played by David Cullen and is dedicated to the scientists, politicians, organizations, and individuals who are working towards the goal of slowing down global warming. Jill Haley's oboe and English horn playing draws from classical, folk, and jazz styles creating a sound that is her own. She can be heard on numerous nationally released CD's by many artists.

Today we added a few selections by pianist Stan Freeman. Wikipedia provides us with this background:
Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, Freeman studied classical piano in college and earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Hartford. After serving in World War II, he joined Tex Beneke's big band, eventually leaving to perform as a pianist and later a comic in nightclubs.
Freeman's work as a studio musician included sessions with Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Percy Faith, Mabel Mercer, and Rosemary Clooney, for whom he played harpsichord on her hit "Come on-a My House."
Freeman's first Broadway project was the 1964 Buddy Hackett vehicle I Had a Ball. He also composed the score for Lovely Ladies, Kind Gentlemen, the short-lived 1970 musical adaptation of The Teahouse of the August Moon.
Freeman conducted Broadway concerts for Marlene Dietrich in 1967 and 1968 and provided arrangements for three of Michael Feinstein's Broadway outings.
Freeman was nominated for the 1992 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Solo Performance/One Person Show for At Wit's End, a tribute to Oscar Levant.
Freeman's television work included composing special musical material for Carol Burnett and Mary Tyler Moore. With Arthur Malvin he shared the Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Special Musical Material for the mini-musical Hi-Hat performed by Burnett with guest Fred Astaire on the January 8, 1978 episode of her eponymous television variety series.
Freeman's solo recordings include Piano Sweethearts, Piano Moods, Come on-a Stan's house: Stan Freeman at the Harpsichord, Fascination, Manhattan, At the Blue Angel, and Everybody's Twistin'.
Freeman died of emphysema in Los Angeles, California.

Timothy Crane discusses his new CD DRAGONFLY

With "Dragonfly", my focus was on composition. Each piece reflects an attempt to craft an instrumental tune that is memorable, unique to the overall album, and noticeably piano-driven. Like my first album, "Dragonfly" was produced on a shoestring budget by independent musicians who want nothing more than to continue to create and play music.
