Melissa Venema
lives in Zaandam and she was born on the 12th of April 1995. When she was a little child she loved wind instruments and thus she started to play the recorder when she was 6 years old at Soli Deo Gloria, a band in Zaandam. When she was 8 years old, she switched instruments: the recorder was replaced by the trumpet. This turned out to be a very good choice indeed. After a few lessons, her teacher, Marjan Politiek, said: “she is a real talent at this instrument”. When she was 9 years young, Melissa played trumpet solos in several churches. To improve her skills she also took lessons with Bert Hendrix, a famous Dutch trumpet player. She then played the trumpet in several orchestra’s.
